The Problem
When Federica first came to Meridian, she had been struggling with persistent neck, back and shoulder pain that seemed impossible to shake off.
As a desk-based professional spending long hours sitting and working at a computer, the discomfort had gradually become part of everyday life.
Alongside the physical pain, she was also experiencing frequent headaches and increasing postural issues that were affecting her comfort, concentration and overall wellbeing.
Like many desk workers, she found herself caught in a cycle of tension, stiffness and recurring symptoms that never seemed to fully disappear.
No matter what she tried, the same problems kept returning.
Over time, the discomfort had become something she simply expected to live with.
The Goal
Federica wanted more than temporary relief.
She wanted to understand why the pain kept returning, improve her posture, reduce her headaches, move more comfortably, feel confident in her body again and stop relying on short-term fixes.
Most importantly, she wanted a clear explanation and a plan she could trust.
The Findings
During her initial assessment, we spent time understanding not only where Federica was experiencing pain, but also how her body was functioning as a whole.
Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, we looked at the bigger picture.
This included neck and shoulder function, postural habits, movement patterns, areas of tension and restriction, the physical demands of spending long periods working at a desk, and the factors contributing to recurring headaches and upper body discomfort.
As is often the case, the areas causing symptoms were only part of the story.
Years of desk-based work had contributed to movement restrictions, postural adaptations, joint dysfunctions and muscular tension that were feeding into the cycle of pain.
By identifying the underlying contributors, we were able to create a much clearer roadmap for improvement.
More importantly, Federica finally understood why she was experiencing the symptoms she had been struggling with for so long.
The Plan
Federica's treatment plan focused on Recovery.
The goal was to reduce pain, improve movement, address postural issues, reduce headache frequency, improve body awareness and create lasting improvements rather than temporary relief.
Through a combination of bodywork, adjustment techniques, hands-on treatment, education and self-management strategies, we worked to address both the symptoms and the factors contributing to them.
Alongside treatment, Federica was given simple stretches and practical guidance to help her better understand her body and support her progress between sessions.
The focus wasn't simply on helping her feel better for a few days.
It was about helping her create lasting change.
The Outcome
Federica began noticing improvements from the very first sessions.
After each appointment, she felt positive changes in how her body moved and functioned.
As the weeks and months progressed, those improvements continued to build.
Her neck, back and shoulder pain gradually reduced.
Her headaches became less frequent.
Her posture improved.
Movement became easier and more comfortable.
Most importantly, she stopped feeling controlled by the discomfort that had previously been a constant part of her life.
Month by month, her symptoms reduced to the point where she no longer felt them at all.
Instead of constantly thinking about pain, stiffness and headaches, she found herself focused on living her life again.
She felt more confident.
More comfortable.
And more in control of her body than she had in years.
The Meridian Difference
One of the things Federica valued most was understanding what was happening and why.
Rather than simply receiving treatment, she was given clear explanations, practical guidance and a personalised plan.
Every step of the process was explained in a way that made sense, helping her become more aware of her body and more confident in how to look after it.
Recovery isn't just about reducing symptoms.
It's about helping people understand their bodies, regain confidence and create lasting change.
For Federica, the result wasn't simply less pain.
It was feeling back in control of her life again.
