Returning To League Netball Pain-Free

Jo
League netball player · Performance phase

Today, her knee is fully rehabilitated. She plays league netball twice a week without pain.

Chapter 01

The Problem

For years, Jo had been dealing with a knee injury that had developed through sport.

Like many active people, she wanted to stay involved in the activities she loved, but the knee continued to cause problems and limit confidence in what her body could do.

Determined to resolve the issue, she spent over a year undergoing physiotherapy through the NHS.

While there was some progress, the knee continued to flare up and never truly felt resolved.

The problem wasn't simply the discomfort.

It was the uncertainty.

The feeling that the issue was always there in the background and could limit what she was able to do.

As someone who loved playing netball and staying active, she wanted more than temporary relief.

She wanted a long-term solution.

Chapter 02

The Goal

Jo's goal was straightforward.

She wanted her knee properly rehabilitated.

She wanted confidence in her body again.

And she wanted to be able to play netball without constantly worrying about pain, limitations or future setbacks.

More importantly, she wanted to understand what was happening and what she could do to improve it.

Chapter 03

The Findings

During assessment, it became clear that the knee itself was only part of the picture.

Like many sports-related injuries, there were wider factors influencing how the body moved, loaded and performed.

Strength deficits, movement patterns and long-standing compensations all contributed to the problem.

Rather than focusing solely on the knee, the goal was to understand the whole picture and create a plan that would allow Jo to return to sport with confidence.

Equally important was helping her understand her own body and the reasons behind each stage of the process.

Chapter 04

The Plan

The initial phase focused on rehabilitation.

Reducing symptoms.

Improving movement quality.

Restoring confidence.

As progress continued, Jo moved into a more structured strength and resilience phase.

Targeted work focused on improving lower-limb strength, hip and glute function, movement control and overall athletic capacity.

Strength pathways and progressive loading were used to help ensure the improvements weren't simply temporary.

The objective wasn't just getting Jo back on court.

It was helping her stay there.

Chapter 05

The Outcome

As treatment progressed, Jo began to notice significant improvements.

The knee became more reliable.

Movement felt easier.

Confidence increased.

Most importantly, she gained a far better understanding of her own body and what it needed to perform well.

Today, her knee is fully rehabilitated.

She plays league netball twice a week without pain.

Instead of worrying about the next flare-up, she is able to focus on enjoying the sport she loves.

She also knows how to manage her body more effectively and feels far more confident recognising and addressing small issues before they become bigger problems.

Chapter 06

The Meridian Difference

Performance isn't simply about returning someone to sport.

It's about helping them perform with confidence once they're there.

For Jo, success wasn't measured by a treatment session.

It was measured by stepping onto the netball court twice every week, pain-free and confident in her body.

Because the goal isn't simply recovery.

It's helping people continue doing the things they love for years to come.

Today, her knee is fully rehabilitated. She plays league netball twice a week without pain.
